I'm lucky. I love what I do. I get to help change people's lives in a significant way. I've helped a lot of students make a lot of money, and more importantly, I've helped a lot of students realize their dreams. Over 75 of my former students have achieved their dream by getting their first job in IT or a much better job in IT. It's almost surreal to me that I've been able to help so many people. I know every student well, and they're extremely grateful. Just see the testimonials!
I've also been lucky with my past jobs. I've had responsibilities that cover just about every area of IT. Combined with my education, that helps me teach since I can help connect the dots for students when covering just about any topic. It also helps me simplify almost any topic, which is probably my biggest strength as a teacher.
I love to learn. I have a bachelor's degree and a master's degree, and I've attended over 100 extra college and adult education classes. That has helped me develop into the teacher I am and helped me develop a training program that works. Unfortunately, college gets a lot wrong. I knew I can do better, so I created Eddie Teaches IT.
An important added benefit to Eddie Teaches IT is every student receives career services. I've been an IT manager, so I've hired and fired people. I understand what it takes to get an IT job and understand what managers are looking for. I help students create great resumes, improve their interviewing skills, and figure out what career direction to take. I also help students figure out what types of jobs to apply to and work with students so that they get hired. I can even refer students to my contacts who are often looking to hire.
The thing every student will notice right away about me is how much I care. I view teaching as a team effort and I put my all into helping every student succeed. I know when a student is struggling to understand a concept and view it as my responsibility to fix that. I also usually know when a student is struggling with something or facing a difficult situation in life. Students often open up to me about issues. Successful students don't have excuses. Just obstacles. I do my best to help every student overcome them.
I'm proud of what I've accomplished and I'm proud to have helped so many students. I 100% believe that I can help any student who wants to work in IT or advance in IT. If you are interested, I hope you give me that chance.
