Job Description


A Computer Support Specialist, or PC technician, makes sure company computers are configured and working properly. They may have to take apart computers to troubleshoot and resolve computer hardware issues. They are also skilled in software troubleshooting and are expected to understand how to navigate and troubleshoot the operating system used by the computer, usually Microsoft Windows, Linux, or MacOS.


Getting a Job


Students who complete this training are job ready, qualified, and in-demand. Typically these jobs require industry certifications or a Bachelor’s degree. Students study for and obtain the necessary certifications.



Getting a Promotion


Computer Support Specialists have a natural pathway to Systems Administrator and Server Administrator positions. They are generally already experts in Windows, Linux, or both. Some companies may also promote Computer Support Technicians to positions like Junior Network Administrator or Security Analyst, depending on the background and education of the employee.
